When Camping is Life | Rediscovering Sharjah, UAE

"And into the desert, I go, to lose my mind and find my soul."

So last month, January 13 to be exact, we went on camping to celebrate a birthday of a good friend. It was my first time doing it in this country the UAE and I was so thrilled of the idea. When you say camping you probably are thinking of woods, forest, or an isolated island but we did it in the middle of the desert.

We arrived at the place around 4:00PM, pitched our tents and prepared the foods. The place is not that far from the main road and we can still see the street lights beaming from afar. They said the place is safe, I really hoped it is because at the back of my head I was thinking of the movies "Wrong Turn" or "Hills Have Eyes" and mutants will come out from nowhere and will turn the fun into misery but hell yeah, am gonna do everything to survive. (Haha!😂😂😂) Then the sun sets down, we set the bonfire, had our dinner, and the rest of the night was history.

Basically the picture above is when we are pitching our tents. We pitched six tents for 18 people. Good enough.

Reminds me of Boy Scout days.

Desert is beautiful! The moment we arrived I know which spots are Instagrammable so here are the shots.

I never imagined there can be so much plants in the desert. All these years I only thought of cactuses and palm trees. My childhood was a lie! But where are the cactus by the way? Didn't find one. 🌵

My friends told me that the cold woke them up early in the morning as it was freezing due to a heavy fog and the temperature dropped to 5 degrees but it didn't bother me anyway. I was too drunk that night and fell into a very deep and sound sleep. 😴💤

How to get there?

I didn't even know the place! It's somewhere between the Sharjah-Fujairah border.

Camping is life I should say. For those looking for a getaway that doesn't cost that much, try camping, try Sharjah. Sometimes it's good to be far away from the city and try to live a primitive life. But then again, we brought cellphones, camera, speakers, and lights, it's not primitive after all. -Jon-

Bambusetum | Kawa-Kawa Hills | Ligao City, Albay

On the slopes of Kawa-Kawa Hills in Tuburan, Ligao City, Albay lies another attraction that has been drawing thousands of visitors since it opened in 2014. The place is called Bambusetum. From the name itself, it is quite easy to guess what it is about. It's a one hectare sanctuary for a variety of the mighty grass we all know, the bamboo. Rediscovering Oas, Albay: Barangay Cagmanaba

Oas is a first class municipality in Albay province. I was born and had grew up there. Most of my fondest childhood memories were here. Up above its coastal areas, a paradise is waiting to be rediscovered. It's the barangay of Cagmanaba. With its crystal clear waters, fine white sand, and islets, it could be the next top tourist attraction of the province. We're lucky to saw it in its still virgin state. Where is Oas? The Waterfall, Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is more than just the largest mall in the world by total space. Aside from home to the world's most luxurious brands, a massive aquarium, it also features unique concepts and design that the world has never seen. Burj Park: A Patch of Green in Downtown Dubai

With all the massive and high-rise buildings spread all over the city, it's a breath of fresh air to find a green spot in the middle of the city where you can simply lie down in the grass under the shade of few trees while marveling at the ever changing skyline of Dubai.
