"A cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent." While there's a lot of Starbucks out there each offering the same coffee, as far as location and view are concerned, no one offers a view so panoramic, heavenly, dreamy and divine that is Starbucks Domicillo Hotel. Imagine sipping your favorite Chocolate Cream Chip Frappucino overlooking the ethereal Taal Volcano, how dope must that be? Today me and my friend decided to have a quick one-day-only getaway to escape stress in the nearby Tagaytay City. Adulting can be very tiring so we both needed to replenish before we get consumed by exhaustion. A friend of mine recommended this new Starbucks and upon seeing pictures online, I died. The superb view is something poets would draw inspiration! The exterior looks so mundane and quite appalling at some point. Inside is just another Starbucks with tables and chairs and couches and as go further, Taal is already waving at you and i...
"I am a museum full of art but you had your eyes shut." -Rupi Kaur-
Art is only a three-letter word yet it's meaning traverses the boundaries of the heart, soul and mind. It's an avenue of the aesthetes to express their emotions and God-given talent by painstakingly crafting their thoughts into a fine piece of art. Pinto Art Museum has what it takes to satisfy your love for the arts.
Now behold as you are about to see Artnet.com's 25 World's Most Instagrammed Museums published in December 2016. I'm talking about in line of museums from America and Europe, Pinto Art Museum made it to the list and I'm not surprised why.
Today I met a dear friend whose from Antipolo and of course, bragged about Pinto Art Museum. I've seen it on Instagram at least several times and wanted to come visit it ever since. It's only few kilometers away from Manila so off to Antipolo I go!
About Pintô
Pinto Art Museum is a contemporary art museum located in the pilgrimage city of Antipolo outside of Manila. It was founded in 2010 to publicly exhibit the art collection of Filipino neurologist and patro of arts, Dr. Joven Cuanang. The museum (pintô means door in Filipino) was founded on the principle that art plays a diplomatic role in bridging distinctive nationalities, worldviews, and communities.
Dr. Cuanang began collecting in the spirit of local artistic patronage in the late 1980s when he championed a revolutionary Filipino artist collective, The Salingpusa, through dedicated connoisseurship and acquisitions. The museum collection includes works by artists Elmer Borlongan, Mark Justiniani, Jose John Santos III, Emmanuel Garibay, Rodel Tapaya, Geraldine Javier, Marina Cruz, Joy Mallari and Antonio Leaño among others.
It doesn't look like a typical museum you've been to, for me it's like a house of one of your rich friends who is so fond of arts and happen to have a vast collection of it. Artworks are housed into several buildings, by category perhaps, and you need to walk on the museum's paved walkways amidst beautifully curated gardens to hop from one building to another. The gardens itself has pieces of arts too! It's surreal. The vibe is somewhere between Santorini and Garden of Eve.
Paintings
Several paintings of different kind are to be found in this haven. Hanged on the museum's white walls are masterpieces of Filipino painters we all can be very proud of.
