Starbucks Domicillo Design Hotel

"A cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent." While there's a lot of Starbucks out there each offering the same coffee, as far as location and view are concerned, no one offers a view so panoramic, heavenly, dreamy and divine that is Starbucks Domicillo Hotel. Imagine sipping your favorite Chocolate Cream Chip Frappucino overlooking the ethereal Taal Volcano, how dope must that be? Today me and my friend decided to have a quick one-day-only getaway to escape stress in the nearby Tagaytay City. Adulting can be very tiring so we both needed to replenish before we get consumed by exhaustion. A friend of mine recommended this new Starbucks and upon seeing pictures online, I died. The superb view is something poets would draw inspiration! The exterior looks so mundane and quite appalling at some point. Inside is just another Starbucks with tables and chairs and couches and as go further, Taal is already waving at you and i...

1 Dirham Abra Ride | Creekside, Old Dubai

"We are not makers of history. We are made of history." -Martin Luther King Jr.-        How far can your one dirham go? Well, you can buy a bottle of water to quench your thirst. That's one thing. You can also buy a chai and pair it with another dirham worth of cheese samosa or a plain parata  as your snacks. Not bad isn't it? And not so long ago, I can still have a waffle cone vanilla ice cream from Burger King but they doubled the price now after the implementation of VAT across the UAE. It seems like 1 dirham nowadays will not take you far. But what if you cruise the Dubai Creek via the traditional abra for just 1 AED? Why not!        Payday has come so me and my good friend Florence, who's on the stage of recuperating from a heartbreak, who needed to unwind more than me, decided to try the ride en route to Rolex Tower where we plan to eat later on. We agreed to meet directly in Al Ghubaiba since we're coming from differen...

Jumeirah Emirates Towers | The Biggest Piano in the World

Of all the many buildings along the Sheikh Zayed Road, the Jumeirah Emirates Towers are probably one of my favorite. The structural height, the form, the elegance, is top-notch. And with it being a twin tower, makes me adore it even more. But wait, I noticed that its window panels resemble a piano. Viewing it from afar, it really looks like a giant one. Take a look at my photos below. The Pianist        This has got to be one my most creative shot, ever. Chanelling my inner Beethoven, but a blind one with a thinning hair line. Oh no! Third Party        I took this photo from the Dubai International Financial Centre. This black statue caught my attention although I don't know what it means exactly. The Space Between Us Here's the dabbing and jumping part. Facts About the Towers        Jumeirah Emirates Hotel Tower, also known as Emirates Tower ...

Dubai Water Canal and the Twisted Bridges

When you have four days off at work, what are you going to do? You might be asking if there is even four days off? Well, I have! It can be boring sometimes I can tell you that. On most occasions, I opt to go to work at one or two of my rest days but if not, I roam around the city and pretend to be a sought-after photographer. I believe that photography is innate to each one of us. So I went out and unleashed the photographer in me.        If one day I become a famed photographer, the architecture will always be my favorite subject. I don't know but I just can't take my camera off my hands whenever there's a certain piece of architecture appealing to my eyes. And when I learned I will be working in Dubai years ago, I was excited because, in this city, their taste in architecture is out of this world. Not only they build it, but they build it tall, strange and unique. Difficult bridges often lead to beautiful destinations....

The Burj Khalifa, the Dandelions, and Me

"When you look at a field of dandelions, you can either see hundreds of weeds or thousands of wishes."         It is winter time still and the cold weather is very enticing for a stroll around the city. I have no plans since I went out alone and decided to do the usual thing I love: snapping photos. Since I am fond of skyscrapers, I went to Sheikh Zayed Road where skyscrapers abound. I passed by the Emirates Towers, Financial Centre, Business Bay and as far as the Dubai Canal. It's almost sunset when I've had enough pictures so I decided to take a rest at the nearby Burj Park.         The place is full of visitors, mostly kids running and biking around. I sat on a bench and noticed the new installations around the park in the shape of a dandelion. Then I remember I saw an Instagram post with the dandelions with the Burj Khalifa in the background. So I waited until the sun sets down, and the whole of the park and the vicinity were ...
